I'm trying to set up a Session Based desktop deployment on Server 2012. My plan is to provide a desktop for end users to run an application(s) that is better suited for the terminal services environment. My configuration as it stands:
RDS01 - Web Access, Connection Broker (Server 2012)
LIC01 - Licensing Server (Server 2012)
RDSHV01 - Hyper-V Host (Server 2012)
RDSHV02 - Hyper-V Host (Server 2012
Here are my questions:
1. My understanding is that I need to add VMs to the Hyper-V hosts, and then make them virtualized Session Hosts, and that those VMs will be what my users connect to. Is this correct?
2. Am I limited to Server 2012 as the OS on the VMs/Session Hosts? (I'd prefer to provide a 2008 R2 desktop)
3. For Session Based desktops, is Per User licensing the licensing mode I should choose?
Deploying RemoteApps was easy in 2008 R2, but haven't worked much with the desktop scenarios.....
Any help here would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
Thanks! Nate
