Is shadowing now dead?

One of the most useful features of RDS/Terminal Services has been the shadowing feature, that allows a server administrator to connect to terminal server users session in order to troubleshoot/observe errors and it's a great tool in order to support users logged on a RDS server.

However, now that I see that there is an optional update from the Windows Update application, I am reading the following:

"The Shadow command cannot be used to remotely monitor another user's remote connection.

Issue

Windows 7 SP1 supports the Shadow command (Remote Control). This command can be used by an administrator to view or control an active session of another user. After RDP 8.0 is enabled on a computer that is running Windows 7 SP1, an administrator user cannot use the Shadow command to view or control another user's session.

Resolution

Administrators can use Remote Assistance or another product that provides similar capability to view or control another user's session."

So that means an IT Helpdesk user or administrator cannot use shadowing anymore from a Win SP1 workstation?
I just wonder, will that also affect Win 2008 R2 servers that installs that update? And what about Win 2008 R2 RDS servers? Will they also be affected if RDP v.8 is installed?
