We have recently configured a VDI system, which is setup as follows:
We have one server (server a) which holds all of the configuration for the VDI:
-Remote Desktop Connection Manager, RD Gateway Manager, RD Licensing Manager, RD Services Manager, RD Session Host Configuration, RemoteApp Manager.
And we have another server (Server b) which holds the Hyper V manager and the pooled remote desktops. (Please note, both our servers are Windows server 2008 R2 x64).
The last step was to publish the VDI through our TMG firewall 2010. This was done, by creating an VDI Access rule and a web listener for vdi.ourdomain.com/rdweb
All of the VDI configuration was setup and funtioned correctly as the VDI system works internally within our domain. I.e if i browse to vdi.ourdomain.com/rdweb i get the login page for the VDI, i can login then login again to access one of the pooled VDI sessions.
The problem
However, we cannot get the VDI sessions to be available externally. The website is available, as i can browse to it from outside our domain, and i can login. However when attempting to open the VDI session i get the following error:
Remote Desktop can't connect to the remote computer for one of these reasons:
1)Remote access to the server is not enabled
2)The remote computer is turned off
3)The remote computer is not available on the network
Make sure the remote computer is turned on and connected to the network, and that remote access is enabled.
To make things stranger, the VDI sessions are available when we connect to our VPN.
So to be honest i am not sure what the issue is, it makes sense for the issue to be with the firewall, but i am not sure what else to check/change to try to resolve this.
Has anyone come accross this issue before? Or does anyone have an idea how to resolve the issue?
