RemoteApp with IE closes immediately but only for "regular" user accounts

I'm trying to set up RDS and RemoteApp to launch IE on end users' machines.

If I setup, say, MS Paint to run via RemoteApp and create the RDP file, place it on a desktop that's joined to my test domain, I have no issues running that application with a "regular" user account. Likewise, if I create an RDP file pointing to Internet Explorer and use a Domain Admin account to launch the application, it works just fine. The problem that I run into is that if I try to launch IE with a "regular" account. IE launches and then closes right away. In the event logs, the user authenticates to the RDS/RemoteApp server just fine and everything looks normal except the logon and logoff events are nearly simultaneous with no indication of their trigger. IE ESC has been set to allow users access to IE, so that shouldn't be the problem. I'm at a loss right now since the user account is authenticating to the server, enough to open up the browser before immediately closing it, and all signs point to this working, except it's not.

In addition, if I go to a command prompt from the client machine, use mstsc and set the RDP session to open C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iExplore.exe upon start, I have no problems opening IE on the server via this method.

I'm looking through GPOs, but as this is a test domain, there's not a lot here and so far I haven't seen anything that would cause this behavior to happen for the one user but not the other. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Server is 2008 R2 and client is XP SP3.

Thanks in advance!
